Collection Designer

Position Summary
We are seeking a talented Collection Designer to partner with our CEO and Production Director in planning, developing, and coordinating seasonal collections. Reporting to the Production Director, this role bridges creative vision with strategic product planning, ensuring our collections reflect both industry trends and the distinctive aesthetic of the JOAH BROWN customer. You will be instrumental in translating design direction into actionable collection frameworks, collaborating closely with our design, technical design, and production teams to develop cohesive seasonal offerings across apparel and accessories. This position requires both strong trend awareness and the ability to distill complex market insights into products that feel effortlessly intentional.


Key Responsibilities
● Partner with the CEO and Production Director to develop seasonal collection strategy and mood boards.
● Research and analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging design directions
● Create and maintain mood boards, trend forecasts, and color/design direction documents
● Develop line sheets and collection frameworks that balance commercial viability with creative intent
● Coordinate color palettes and fabrication selections with production and sourcing teams
● Synthesize feedback from stakeholders (Design, Production, Marketing) and refine collection direction
● Support product development calendar and key collection milestones
● Assist in evaluating new categories, materials, and production capabilities
● Communicate collection direction to internal teams and external partners
● Maintain organized documentation and visual references for all seasons and categories


Qualifications
● 3–5+ years of fashion design or collection planning experience (preferably apparel-focused)
● Strong understanding of contemporary/modern aesthetics and ability to identify market trends
● Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across design, production, and commercial teams
● Proficiency in design software (Adobe Creative Suite preferred) and presentation tools
● Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple seasonal timelines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
● Ability to adapt quickly to evolving direction while maintaining clarity and intentionality

Preferred Experience
● Experience working at contemporary, independent, or direct-to-consumer fashion brands
● Background in luxury or elevated casual market segments
● Familiarity with technical design, material properties, and production capabilities
